The Kumaon region is full of trekking trails with great attractions like temples, waterfalls, forests, and rivers along the way. We can organize treks and gourmet picnics depending on what you want to see and how strenuous you would like your adventure to be. We have a custom designed jeep for safaris in the area. Jageshwar
Nageshwar, the main temple at Jageshwar, is the place of Nagesh, 8th among the 12 Dwadasa Jyotirlingas and is hence a must see for any visitor to the Kumaon Valley. The Mahamrityunjay temple is the largest and oldest temple of 124 temples in Jageshwar. This temple of Shiva is eastern facing and the Linga is worshipped as the saviour from death. Pilgrims believe that reciting the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra is a fruitful, auspicious and powerful method of self-realisation, removal of evil effects, and freedom from all kinds of fears, illness and negativity. The Orchard is one of the closest luxury hotels to Jageshwar. The drive to Jageshwar from The Orchard takes under 2 hours.

The temple was recently brought to the limelight when Mark Zuckerberg, the man behind Facebook mentioned that Steve Jobs had advised him to visit this temple as it helped Jobs come to serious spiritual revelations during troubled times. Our boutique hotel, The Orchard, is located 20 minutes away from Kakarighat. Along the banks of the Kosi River, is the picturesque temple, set amidst an ancient Peepal Tree. Shree Neem Karoli Baba lived and meditated here under the guidance of his guru, and in 1890, Swami Vivekananda also meditated here during his travels to the Himalayas.

Kasar Devi & Crank's Ridge
Kasar Devi is a small village located 30 kilometers from The Orchard luxury boutique hotel, known for the Kasar Devi Temple, which dates back to the 2nd Century CE. This temple was frequented by Swami Vivekananda for meditation and was written about in his diaries. The earth’s magnetic field plunges in Kasar Devi making it especially conducive for meditative and transcendental experiences. A small hill just ahead of Kasar Devi called Crank's Ridge, popularly known as hippie hill, became extremely popular with bohemian artists, famous writers and spiritual seekers all over the world. Kasar Devi has seen many spiritual seekers flocking to this little village for the last 100 years. Danish mystic Sunyata Baba (Alfred Sorensen) lived here from the 1930s till the 60s. As did Ernst Hoffman, who later became known as Lama Angarika Govinda, who was visited by Neem Karoli Baba many times. Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens, Allen Ginsberg, George Harrison, Timothy Leary, DH Lawrence, all came to Kasar Devi for spiritual and creative inspiration.

Very close to our luxury boutique hotel is Panchachuli, an NGO in Almora dedicated to the social and economical empowerment of women. Panchachuli has managed to train over a 1000 women in the art of weaving wraps, shawls, throws, blankets, etc. Our guests will have an opportunity to shop at Panchachuli, famous for its exotic Tibetan pashminas, merino wool, and lambswool.

Aarohi, another famous NGO located in our neighbourhood (8kms from The Orchard Luxurious Boutique Hotel). Aarohi was founded in 1992 by two social workers who realised that living in the mountains in India wasn’t easy. This motivated them to create Aarohi and support development of self-sustaining and independent mountain communities. Their activities in the region are related to Health Care, Education, Livelihoods and Energy and Forest Management.
